The question is: why should this young man die at the tender age of 46? Why did God allow such a good man with a good heart to exit this world so early?

Ofoegbu was a lab scientist. He helped the poor who could not pay for their services and he treated them for free! For that the patients called him nurse and Ofoegbu went back to school and studied nursing.

Thus he became a nurse and was wearing white robe, still treating people for free. In view of that his patients changed his description from nurse to doctor. Challenged but determined, Ofoegbu headed for the university again to read medicine and ultimately graduated as a medical doctor.

As he served humanity and humanities so also he served God as he was chairman, St Michael’s Parish, Umuorii, Uratta, Owerri North. He also served as parish council chairman and carried out landmark projects that have elevated mission and made it liturgically conducive for spirituality.

Sadly, in spite of his known good work in all spheres including, professionally, socially, philanthropy and ecclesiastically, Dr Kelechi never had a child. Tests were conducted and both him and his lovely wife were confirmed medically productive, yet, no pregnancy, no child, no children. Nothing. Just nothing. Absolutely nothing. This life is surely deeper than it is seen and perceived.

His immediate elder brother, Ralph Ofoegbu, is a Catholic priest. The burial mass attracted the auxiliary bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri, Moses Chikwei.About 15 priests were in attendance, including Fr Moses Anuna who delivered the sermon and prayed for the repose of the dead’s soul.

May his soul rest in peace.
