Following the resignation of Jose Peserio, it was believed that Finidi George, knew that notable key players of the team threw their support for Emmanuel Amunike to manage the team

Captain William Troost-Ekong of Paok Salonika, Victor Osimhen of Napoli, Victor Boniface of Bayern Leverkusen, Taiwo Awoniyi of Nottingham Forest were confident that if Emmanuel Amunike was appointed, the Super Eagles Coach the team will definitely do a wonderful thing.

Close sources also revealed that this development didn’t go down well with Finidi George, who decided to victimize those players when he finally took over the team.

One will wonder why Troost-Ekong was not allowed to visit the team, while in camp when they were in Uyo whereas he was in Uyo during that time. Osimhen also, the source said, was not allowed to visit the team in camp.

This particular development has left much to be desired and has stirred reactions among soccer – loving Nigerians.
