PUBLIC FACILITIES DECAY: AMATO UKWU AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY, OSISIOMA NGWA LGA APPEALS TO GOVERNOR ALEX OTTI, CONSTITUENCY AND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY LEGISLATORS FOR URGENT INTERVENTION.

The good people of Amato Ukwu Autonomous Community, Osisioma Ngwa LGA of Abia state are in quandary and bemoan over the public facilities decay in their community. The community is earnestly soliciting urgent intervention by the relevant authorities,to provide solution for many years of total power loss, dilapidated Primary and Secondary schools’ buildings and the health center located by Abia State Government about 23 Years ago, in a temporary structure provided by the community.

Their worry, is upon the fact that these vital facilities put in place, to provide Abians of Amato Ukwu Autonomous Community extraction, and its residents with electricity to promote growth of industries, education for individual development and Health center for primary healthcare needs within their locality, which currently seemed to have be a mirage as none is functioning.
The reality on ground, conforms to their conception, that the aim for which these public facilities were established, have been defeated , unless something is urgently done to change the narrative.
The community deduced this from the fact that the electricity substation in the community has not functioned in the last five (5) years, the Primary and Secondary schools’ buildings are unwell looking, and the Health is practically operating, in a collapsed structure with all parts of roof leaking and the wall cracked with some parts fell off completely for about 15 years.

There is precariousness of the drugs therein being safe for medication as well as the equipment.
The workers engaged in the Health Center are also not left out of the hazardous effects of the decay of the amenities of the health facility.
A close observation of the state of those facilities as revealed by the President Amato Ukwu People’s Assembly, Deacon Justice Alozie and the Secretary Barrister Eroba C.O , is that certain economic activities like the craftsmen, the academic programmes and healthcare have been stalled in the community. The experience at the health center is quite disheartening, such that each rainfall leaves the drugs in the facility damaged, equipment exposed to moisture and staff wet by water gushing out from the punctured roofing sheets.

The community has through their Assembly Leaders, expressed their agonies and particularly their utmost doubt that the administration of such drugs and use of the health facility and equipment in it are absolutely unsafe for humans.
Similarly, the Traditional Ruler of Amato Ukwu Autonomous Community and a retired security pundit, His Royal Highness Eze Okwuchi Sylvanus Jim in a telephone conversation revealed that he severally conveyed the infrastructural problems of his Kingdom (Amato Ukwu Autonomous Community) which includes the disrepair classrooms of the primary and secondary schools , the total black out for years ,and the health center which is an eyesore , to the previous administration in the state as well as the representatives at the National Assembly with no solution from them. The Royal Father, sadly expressed concern over the exodus of the students and pupils from the community Schools and attributed such development to the ramshackle of the amenities in the community.
The Eze clearly stated that Parents and Guardians describe the learning environment as unsafe and unfavorable for their wards and children learning.
Amato Ukwu Autonomous Community as a component of Osisioma Ngwa North state constituency, is in Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbor Federal Constituency, and Abia central senatorial District.

The AMATO UKWU PEOPLE’S ASSEMBLY, and His Royal Highness Eze Okwuchi Sylvanus Jim, in their independent review over their predicament, arrived at the same conclusion that it is only Government or agencies of the Federal Government or Legislators at the National Assembly intervention that can bring prompt and an enduring solution.
The community described the lack of attention by the immediate past representatives in both green and Red Chambers and the state Government as a clear case of insensitivity, and an aberration from the business of representation as well as governance
The Amato Ukwu People’s Assembly and the traditional Ruler, jointly appealed to the current Osisioma Ngwa North State Constituency representative Hon Nwogu Iheanacho. Hon Munachim Alozie of the House of Reps, Senator Akobundu Austine representing Abia Central Senatorial District and Dr Alex Chioma Otti OFR Executive Governor of Abia State , to kindly and swiftly intervene and do the needful as to relief Abia citizens of Amato Ukwu Autonomous Community extraction from the excruciating pains occasioned by the disrepair of those public facilities in the community over the years.

In an interview of Amato Ukwu people’s Assembly President and Secretary, Deacon Justice Alozie and Barrister Eroba C.O, by the News Mirror, they made an earnest appeal to the Government of Abia state and legislators representing the community at various levels, to intervene in order not to allow the people of Amato Ukwu Autonomous Community to be overwhelmed by these pathetic situations currently facing the community. They rounded off in their appeal with the truism “A stitch in time saves nine”.
