Former Minority Leader, Abia State House of Assembly and two term lawmaker, Hon. Sir. Abraham Ukefi Oba and his teeming formidable political group; NDI UWAOMA STRUCTURES and OBA SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), reports www.newsmirrorng.com. The event took place on Saturday 15 June, 2024 at Amokwe Item Hall, George’s by St’.Michael’s road Aba, Abia state.
The Chairmen of APC in Aba North, Nze Tony Onyeñuforo and his Aba South counterpart Hon. Uba Onyebuchi praised Hon. Abraham Oba for his courage to join APC, promising him level playing ground with structure and supporters, assuring him, they will not be denied any opportunities due for them in the party.
In his speech, Hon. Paul Taribo, the immediate past House of Assembly member, from Ukwa East, who came in solidarity with his friend and colleague said thus; ” I came here today in solidarity with my friend and former colleague, to join forces with him and APC, advocating for Abia to be in the mainstream of Nigeria politics, to the benefit of Ndi Abia”, Hon. Paul Taribo, said”.
Also speaking, Hon. Dan Okereke ( Solid Soul), who was the first State Organising Secretary of PDP in Abia state, also former Aba South LGA Deputy Chairman, said” ” APC will win Aba, win Abia state and win the Presidency, and urged the party to leverage on the new blood being injected into Abia APC to work in unity, with the aim to win 2027 elections”, he concluded
Other speakers include; Hon. Barr. Chukwuemeka Nwogu( Former Federal Commissioner, PPC), Hon. Stanley Azuka, Hon. Prince Stanley Ogbonna ( Former Aba North LGA, Chairman) all extolled the political sagaciity of Hon. Abraham Oba, insisting he would add value to APC with his wealth of experience, capacity and competence, which will ensure that APC will win Aba come, 2027 general elections.
Speaking on behalf of the PDP ward Chairmen and Secretaries from Aba Central State Constituency, Mr. Joseph Chukwu said, they decided to follow Hon. Oba to APC because of his good leadership qualities. Some of the defectors are; Patrick Okeke, Joseph Chukwu, Nnachi Arua, Cosmos Egbujuo, David Metu Orji, Ekeh Ndukwe, Chile Okoronkwo, Collins Njoku, Benedith Ogbonna, Francis Umaefula, who were PDP Ward Chairmen before their defection.
Earlier in his speech, Hon. Abraham Oba said he joined APC to help build the party to become a winning platform in Aba, pledging to work with other party leaders to forster unity and togetherness, promising to work with all the members of the party to achieve success.
Other notable dignitaries present during the event are; Hon. Joshua Johnson, Hon. Goodluck Amaefula, Prince George Nnanna Kalu, Hon. James Chima, Hon. Sunday Udeagha,Obasi Uba Obasi, Sir Marcellinus Aguocha who doubled as Director Religious Affairs of Abraham Oba Campaign Council, Hon. Mrs Enyidiya Ifegwu ( Ndi Uwaoma Woman Leader) amongst others
The highlight of the event was the issuing of APC Membership card to Hon. Abraham Oba and other defectors.
