Academic activities are currently halted in the prestigious Abia State University Uturu as academic staff members of Abia State University Uturu protest over non payment of 11 months arrears.
Speaking during the protest, ABSU ASUU Dr. Chidi Mba stated unequivocally that the lecturers are being owned 11 months salary arrears and demanded for the government to expedite action as their members are currently dying of hunger and can not pay their hospital bills.
Many lecturers who spoke to our correspondent wondered why the government are being economical with the truth and urged them to make that their salary arrears are paid without delay.
In their part, the students of the school pleaded with the government to pay their lecturers because they are the ones suffering the effect of the non-payment of lecturers salaries
