Kelechi Ndukwe, from Okoko Item in Bende council area of Abia state, makes history as the first Nigerian-American Commander of a US Navy ship.

Commander Ndukwe was appointed and given charge to take command of the US Navy-guided missile destroyer USS HALSEY (DDG-97) on April 2 in a decision made by the US military top brass as approved President Joe Biden,

The United States Embassy in Nigeria, on Thursday, April 8, congratulated Ndukwe on the feat, as the first Nigerian-American to command a US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer.
