The saying that a gold fish has no hiding place propped up penultimate week. It was not a surprise and an indication that the Abia foremost philanthropist, Mr. Ncheta Okoro Omerekpe’s rare developmental strides has not gone unnoticed.
When he called me on 20th December, 2019 to represent him in one event in Umuahia due to his tight schedule, i never knew what was in the offing but to Umuahia i went and it turned out to be ABIA FACTS NEWSPAPER yearly award at the prestigious Confidence Hotel located in the capital city of Abia State.
Behold, your sincerely being a representative of Mr Omerekpe was called upon to receive an award on behalf of Mr. Omerekpe who was crowned ABIA FACTS NEWSPAPER, ABIA HUMANITARIAN SERVICES AWARD FOR THE YEAR, 2019.
It’s indeed a well deserved award – no lobbying, no connotations, just a deserved recognition to a man who has done so much to alleviate the suffering of people.
In my brief acceptance speech on behalf of the Founder of NCHETA OMEREKPE FOUNDATION, Mr. Ncheta Okoro Omerekpe, i thanked the organisers of the award and praised them for their eagle eye to discover arguably the only man in Abia state that has been silently rendering service to humanity over the past 10 years, noiselessly.
The award was therefore dedication to the poor and needy in our society, the youths whose future appear bleak, the widows and the elderly that need our constant care and indeed all those involved in the service to humanity and love for mankind.
The reward of doing good is the encouragement to do more and i am very sure, Mr. Ncheta Okoro Omerekpe, popularly called OFOR NDI IGBO will be challenged by this latest garland to his already filled feather.
