Today I represented The Transition Committee Chairman of Isiala Ngwa South LGA Chief Nkem. B. Onwubiko at the council headquarters Omoba during the official commissioning of the INEC Prototype Building, I lauded the commission for conducting a free, fair and credible election in 2019 general election which brought our result oriented governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu into power while assuring them of the councils readiness in supporting the commission.
the former speaker Abia State House of Assembly and member representing Isiala Ngwa South State constituency Rt. Hon. Chikwendu Kalu was present too, he lauded INEC for their huge sacrifice and fair play during the 2019 general Election in Nigeria and Abia State and called on the people of Isiala Ngwa South to guard the facility.
In his address, the President Electoral Commissioner , INEC Abia state Dr. Valentine J. C. Iloh recalled that in 2015, the INEC rented office in the Local Government was burnt down hence the authorities of the council provide INEC with a one room accommodation at the LGA office and from which space it was impossible for the electoral umpire to conduct election in the LGA during the 2019 general election which necessitated the construction of the new INEC office and enjoined the youths of Omoba and the people of Isiala Ngwa South in general to see the INEC office in the area as a developmental strides and a symbol of federal presence and solicited for the cooperation of all. He equally appealed to the LGA Authorities to provide INEC staff with an enabling environment to discharge their statutory responsibilities to the people of Isiala Ngwa South LGA.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Electoral Officer INEC Isiala Ngwa South LGA Mrs Mercy Amechi Okorie appreciated God and all who contributed to the success of the project which she described as a tangible and concrete manifestation of a bold idea, continuity in administration and cooperation per excellence with prudency. While soliciting for an all round support.
High point of the ceremony which attracted the presence of the Head Of Service Isiala Ngwa South LGA Chief Monday Ugorji, the administrative secretary of the council Dr Mrs Kate-Thelma Obilor, the Chief of staff to the chairman Pastor Austin Agomuo, the traditional ruler of Ikaa Autonomous Community HRH Eze John Onwuasoanya and his Alaoma Autonomous counterpart HRH Eze Godwin Nwankpa, all the transition committee members of Isiala Ngwa South, some security agents and many others.
