The attention of Abia PDP has been drawn to a certain news item on social media by one irritant named Mezie Abia who has arrogated the power of mischief and misinformation to himself.
The said Mezie Abia in a carelessly concocted misinformation alleged that the PDP held a meeting today to replace its gubernatorial candidate Prof. Uche Ikonne with Mr. Lucky Igbokwe on account of Prof. Ikonne’s ill-health.
We do not owe the said unrepentant apologist of ill-news any explanation but as a responsible corporate citizen, the PDP will inform Abians the true position of things in the Party.
The Central Planning Committee of the 2023 Abia PDP Campaign Council held a meeting today at the Party’s Headquarters in Umuahia to discuss and schedule movement of the Party to the 17 Local Government Areas of the State for the second leg of our campaigns, after our peak-of-the-pack campaign flag off which effects are still reverberating in all parts of the South East.
Today’s meeting was not a closed door meeting and the discussion was in the open with the Press and members of the Directorate of State Security in attendance and no such issue as the blatant lie propagated by “Mebie Abia” was on the table.
For the record, the Abia PDP guber candidate, erudite Prof. Uche Ikonne is hale and hearty and is consciously warming up as the team-lead of the campaign train. We pray that those who wish him dead will be alive to see the wonders he will wrought in Abia from 2023.
The abuse of social media by irresponsible e-rats like “Mebie Abia will not in any way diminish the value it has brought to global economy, democracy and mankind.
The Abia PDP is proud of the Corps of Abia journalists under umbrella of Abia NUJ and affiliate bodies like the Abia Online Media Practitioners Association who have responsibly and consistently reported accurate and verifiable news to the good people of Abia.
We will not cast a blanket characterization of online bloggers as misfits because of the devious acts of a very few like “Mebie Abia“. We have many responsible ones and we expect them to continue in their good work of informing, educating, entertaining and sensitising Abians to enable us be part of the march towards modernity and civilisation.
We call on Abians to disregard the lies of “Mebie Abia” whose only wish is to set Abia on fire but he will not succeed. A man who goes by the pseudonym Mezie but does everything to Mebie does not in any way deserve the attention of well meaning Abians.
The PDP trusts the judgement and discerning ability of Abians to know that Mebie Abia is an ill-wind that blows no good.
Ahead of the 2023 general election, we call on PDP members and Abians in general to vote for Prof. Uche Ikonne and his running mate Barr. Okey Igwe so that they will continue with the good workmof the present administration.
