Mammoth crowd Participate in Abia Ministry of Homeland and Security Examination

Following the clarion call by Nigerians on the crowing insecurity in Nigeria, the Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu led administration as part of efforts to improve the security architecture of the state, with the Abia State Ministry of Homeland Security, on Saturday 8th February, 2020, conducted recruitment examination for people of the state.

Speaking before the commencement of the exercise held at Ibeku High School Umuahia, the Commissioner, Ministry of Homeland Security, Prince Daniel Okoli, said the process is to select those to be recruited into Abia state Homeland Security outfit.

The Commissioner said participants who are successful will be shortlisted, mobilised to a training camp where they will be exposed to the rudiments of community policing, intelligence gathering and other security operations.

Prince Okoli urged participants to be serious, assuring that results of the exercise will be released in two days just as he hinted that the idea behind the recruitment is to train people that will secure the environment.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Homeland Security, Deacon Sam Odoemelam, said the exercise is line with the initiative of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, pointing out that it is meant to assist and improve the security architecture of the State.
Lending his voice, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Mr. Chigozie Ubani, also an expert on security issues said the exercise is necessary as the first step to get the best.
Speaking to news men, some of the participants including: Onyekwere Chiedozie, Uloma Levi, enjoined the organisers to be transparent in screening, expressing hope that their names will be shortlisted.

Newsmirrorng correspondent, Geraldine Ndukwe reports that more than 2,000 people participated in the examination, which is expected to last for a day. But, with the crowd, it is yet to be seen if the exercise can really end in one day.
