All is now set for the full trial of one Uduak FrankAkpan, a native of Nung Ikono Ufok in Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State who allegedly murdered a job seeker and graduate of the University of Uyo, Miss Iniubong Ephraimite Umoren.
The case tagged “State vs Uduak Frank Akpan & Anor” in a charge No. HU/87C/2021, comes up this Wednesday, 18th August, 2021 before Justice Bennett Illaumoh.
Uduak, who is standing trial with his father, Frank Akpan, a retired Director in the Federal Civil Service, had pleaded guilty to killing the Iniubong, while his father, pleaded not guilty of aiding and abetting his son in the commission of the offense.
Although Uduak had pleaded guilty, the Court entered a not guilty plea for him to stand full trial wherein the State would be saddled with the burden of proving the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt to enable the Court to convict and sentence him.
Attorney Gand Commissioner for Justice,Uko Essien Udom, SAN is leading the prosecution team against the Defense Counsel led by Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, Samson Adula, Esquire for Uduak Akpan, while Emms Ekongson, Esquire leads the legal team for the second accused, Frank Akpan.
