Ehe Assistant Rector, Queen of the Apostles Seminary, Imezi Owa, Ezeagu LGA Reverend Father Arinze Madu was kidnapped yesterday on his arrival at the seminary.
In his reaction, the Enugu State Police Public Relation Officer, SP Ebere Amarizu confirmed the incident.
Ebere Amarizu announced that the police force has intensified manhunt for the kidnappers.
In his words, “we are on top of the situation and we aim to rescue the reverend father safely”.
Meanwhile, the Director of Communications and public relations, Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Reverend Father Benjamin Achi also confirmed the incident and described it as an ugly trend.
Reverend Father Achi said the kidnappers waited for their victim at the gate of the seminary and whisked him away in violence manner.
Achi added that the church has been in touch with the police since then and expressed hope that the kidnapped Father Arinze Madu will be released unhurt.
When asked about ransom, father Achi replied that at the point of our interaction there was no demand or ransom asked by the kidnappers.
Meanwhile, Reverend Father Arinze Madu before now served at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Ugwuaji, Enugu South LGA before moving to Imezi Owa, in Ezeagu LGA where he was kidnapped.
