The Executive Governor of Abia State , His Excellency Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD has saluted the farmers of Abia state for their doggedness to produce and put food on the tables of Abia people despite the challenges of Covid-19 lockdown which put many people out of their businesses..

The commendation was made by the Executive Governor while addressing farmers and stakeholders at this year’s annual World Food Day celebration held at the Michael Okpara Auditorium Umuahia.
The Representative of the Governor, Chief Amanze, Program Manager and Former Commissioner in the state said the state has introduced many agricultural programs and palliatives through the NG-CARES Result Area 2 to take farmers out of Covid-19 induced losses and challenges.
He said the government of Governor Ikpeazu was passionate about Agriculture which is one of his 5 Pillars of Development in the state and has trained many farmer through the ADP and and keyed them into programs that will empower them.
Speaking earlier the Acting Commissioner/ permanent Secretary of the Ministry Mr Charles Agbara enumerated many successful programs of the Okezie Ikpeazu administration in the area of Agriculture including the poultry clusters, distribution of tenera seedlings and cassava stem and rehabilitation of plantations and estates.
The event was attended by stakeholders in the Agricultural sector including Professionals from the university of Agriculture and Various research institutes, the General Manager of ABIA CSDP Chief Chinatu Njoku staff of ministry of Agriculture and the Academia
