DR. OSITA IGBE COMMENCE PALLIATIVE ROAD CONSTRUCTION WORK IN ISUIKWUATO LGA

The Transition Committee Chairman, Isuikwuato local government area, Dr Osita Igbe, has commenced emergency palliative work along Uzuakoli to Akara road, Isuikwuato section, with a call to both Federal and State Governments to assist the council in fixing the road permanently, to save road users and their properties from further attack.

Speaking to newsmen at the bad spot along Uzuakoli to Akara road while monitoring the progress of reclamation work being carried out by the Works Department of Isuikwuato local government area, the T.C Chairman, asserted that the failed portions of the Umuahia to Isuikwuato federal road, has recently turned to den for kidnapers and armed rubbers, which necessitated his prompt intervention work within Isuikwuato section, adding that he embarked on the rehabilitation work to ensure that the criminality within that location is put to check, and called on relevant stakeholders with special mention to; Federal Ministry of works and Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, to come up with lasting solution to the deplorable condition of the road, and thanked the HOD, Works Department, Chief Ifeanyi Kalu, for doing a quality remedial repairs.

Dr Igbe who regretted that some road users, including a former Council Chairman of Isuikwuato local government area have been kidnapped by unknown armed men operating in the area, while the member representing Isuikwuato local government in the Abia state House of Assembly, Hon Barr Emeka Okoroafor, recently escaped the kidnap attempt on him, with his vehicles riddled with bullets, within the same failed portion of the Uzuakoli to Akara road.

He however appreciated the security agencies in Isuikwuato local government area for responding swiftly to his distress call concerning the kidnap of innocent citizens which led to the release of the former council Chairman, adding that spirited efforts are still in place to ensure that other kidnapped victims still under custody are released unhurt, while he requested the Abia state Commissioner of Police to beef up security within Isuikwuato local government area to curb the incessant attack on the road users.

In their remarks, the Head of Works Department, Chief Ifeanyi Kalu, and the Chief Security Officer to the Chairman, Mr Onyekachi Madukairo, commended the Chairman, Dr Osita Igbe for mobilizing and releasing logistics for the emergency palliative work, adding that the level of work done is encouraging and will discourage the high rate of criminality along the road.
