Public affairs commentator and lawyer, Daniel Bwala, is in line to succeed Ajuri Ngelale who resigned his positions as Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman, Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, a Presidency source hinted Political Economist NG.
Ngelale, in a statement on Saturday said he submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President indicating that he was proceeding on an indefinite leave of absence.
He said this was to enable him deal with medical matters currently affecting his nuclear family.
He said the decision was taken after consultations with his family over the past several days, “as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home. I look forward to returning to full-time national service when time, healing and fate permit.
“I respectfully ask for some privacy for my family and I during this time,” he said.
Ngelale who was appointed Tinubu’s spokesman early in the life of this government had been involved in many gaffes warranting rebuttals and had attracted criticisms from certain quarters for his naivety.
A Presidency source told Political Economist NG that Bwala is favoured to take up the role as Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, though he had no media experience except being a regular analyst on television.
Bwala is an adjunct lecturer and external examiner at the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, Abuja. He also contributes his insights as a consultant to the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association
