A former President of the Institute for chartered Accountants of Nigeria Chidi Ajaegbu, has resigned his membership of the All Progressive Grand Alliance.

Ajaegbu, had contested the 2015/2019 Abia central senatorial election under the umbrella of the party against a former Governor of Abia state Senator Theodore Orji.

Ajaegbu, in a statement on Sunday in Aba the commercial hub of the state said he was quitting APGA and partisan politics as a result of internal crisis within the party.

He said added the he was leaving the party because the National chairman of the Party Chief Victor Oye and his cohorts who allegedly worked against the interest of some of candidates of party during the 2019 elections were returned to office through a controversial convention.

He stated that he had joined politics with the intentions of challenging the alleged corrupt status quo which led to the collapse of infrastructure, non payment of salaries and pensions in Abia state but regretted that some individuals in his party (APGA) worked against that agenda.

He pointed out that he would prefer continuing with the agenda of improving the lives of his constituents through charitable works.

He said, “I could have been better of if had spent the money I spent during the election in building schools and rehabilitating roads within my constituency and the state at large.

” I joined APGA because I thought it would provide an alternative to the Peoples Democratic Party in my state, but I found out that the party was hijacked by some disgruntled elements who are the enemies of progress”.

“I can no longer accept a situation where by our party that won 11 seats in the Abia state House of Assembly in 2015 is now struggling to retain 2 in 2019.

“Our party was destabilized by one Chikwe Udensi and Ahamdi Nweke through the National chairman Oye who were playing the script of their PDP masters in the state so we went into the election weakened“.
