CBN TO COLLABORATE WITH ABIA ADP TO ESTABLISH FIVE STAR CASSAVA PROJECT IN MBASA COMMUNITIES.

Abia state Agricultural Development programme (ADP) has collaborated with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to establish “FIVE STAR CASSAVA PROJECT ” in before farming session.Mbasa Community. The Mbasa communities in Isiala Ngwa North & South Local Government Areas have accepted the empowerment Project called ”FIVE STAR CASSAVA INITIATIVE”

The Programme Manager Abia ADP, Chief Israel Amanze has assured the people of the readiness of the government towards the project after several visits to the community. He sounded it loudly to them that the government has not come to buy or take their land from them but to make the land more profitable to them community through Mechanized farming.


Earlier the Desk officer for Five Star Cassava Project, Mr Prince Ehiedo Introduced the Programme Manager Chief Israel Amanze and the team from ADP Headquarters, Ministry of Agriculture and Central Bank of Nigeria to the Mbasa’s community. Chief Amanze assured the people of Mbasa that , the project does not have any Political coloration but is an avenue of empowering the Mbasa’s through mechanised Farming and that funds will be provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
He described the project as a profitable one that will benefit the people. He asdured them that they will have nothing to lose and also that Government is “Turning The Economy from An Import Based to an Export Based Economy”.


During one of the visits , The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture who was ably represented by Mrs Emuchay Thelma .O, advice the Mbasa’s community to forget about the compensation interest that money is not the ultimate but embrace this huge project which will benefit them and their children. In addition to what she said Mr Festus Asembo a representative of the CBN, suggested they Map out the farm land because they need 1,000 hectares each from the Three (3) Senatorial Zones to actualize the inputs, he added that names of real farmers will be requested not political farmers, Bank Verification Numbers(BVN), Capturing and Banks will be involved for a transparent workflow.


In a vote of thanks, by an executive member, Mr A. C Onyeogu said this is the first they are having from the Government, that they are glad and ever ready to give maximum support and appeal to the government to provide security to avoid herds men vandalizing the crops after cultivation and prayed for a successful project.
On behalf of the executive Chairman Mr Chinedu Erondu, the secretary Mr Mr Nna Omenma Handed over the land for the project and rendered words of prayer towards the project.
