Border Clashes!! Abia Police Commissioner decries rising death toll

Abia State Police Commissioner, Mrs. Janet Agbede has bemoaned the rising deaths resulting from border clashes between Abia, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states, urging the states’ deputy governors to meet and synergise for a lasting solution.

Agbede spoke, following a report by an Ikwuano traditional ruler, Eze Kanu Ujali that four of their people were killed during the recent Abia /Akwa Ibom clash. It was also reported that 35 Isu people in Arochukwu Local Council lost their lives to border attacks with neighbouring Biase communities of Cross River State, within two years.

She, consequently, directed community leader’s facing border threats to report same to their state deputy governors in charge of boundary matters, aside promptly reporting imminent attacks to the police.
