Automated system of revenue collection has been identified as the only panacea to stop revenue leakages, enhance accountability and create more jobs. It is also safer and stress free.

Sir Mac Atasie, the Chief Economic Advisor to Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and Chairman, Abia Economic Advancement Team ( ABEAT) said this during a media advocacy programme on revenue collection in Umuahia, Abia state.

Basking on the euphoria of his recent award of recognition by Anambra State government for helping Anambra state and Gov. Willie Obiano realise her revenue potentials, Sir Mac Atasie maintained that automation is seamless, stress free, accurate and the only system that can eliminate fraud in revenue collection.

He gave examples with tricycle ( Keke ) in Abia state that use to make N6. 5 Million monthly before he took over grossed N867, 785, 700 in 2021. Also in the transport section, the flying revenue use to be N100 Million naira in a year but was moved to N1. 167 Million naira and queried where the difference of N1. 176 million in just one year that could not be traced to any government account went to and he had ready answer for it.
” That huge difference of N1. 176 Million entered private pockets, he concluded “.

He noted that paper documentation has done a disservice to Abia state revenue collection over the years, as huge amount of the revenue enter into private pockets .

Still wondering why Sir Mac Atasie is being criticised by those that benefit from the old system of revenue collection laced with massive fraud?
