The Governing Council of Abia State University at its 148th regular meeting, Thursday 16th December 2021 has ratified the election of Professor Ogbonna Onuoha as the new Deputy Vice-chancellor (DVC) Administration of the University.

Recall that the University Senate in its 252th session Wednesday, 29th September 2021, elected Professor Ogbonna Onuoha , Professor of linguistics and Igbo as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Administration of the University, pending ratification by the Governing Council.


Prior to his election, Professor Ogbonna Onuoha served the University in many capacities as
Former Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU- ABSU
Director, Institute of Distance Education
Director, Division of General Studies
University orator
As well as in other different positions for successive administrations of the University where he brought to bear his wealth of experience and huge intellectual ability to promote the core mandate of the University in Teaching, Research and Community service.
Professor Ogbonna Onuoha is the 52nd Inaugural Lecturer of the University, largely celebrated for his unique presentation of the lecture in pure, unadulterated vernacular for the entire duration of the Inaugural lecture.

He is also member of the Governing Council of the University, a very vocal member of senate, respected for his sound and intelligent contribution on issues at the floor of senate.
His assumption into office as the DVC (Administration) completes the number of Management team of the University ably led by the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu.
