The capital city of Abia was agog today as the one of most outstanding Agencies in Abia state, (Abia state Orientation Agency) embarked on a road show, sensitization and enlightenment of Abia Citizens and visitors towards maintaining a healthy and clean environment.
The DG Abia state Orientation Agency, Hon. Godwin Adindu was again at his best,show casing the global best practices of refuse disposal.
Alongside with the DG is the State Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Solomon Ogunji.
Engr Ogunji stressed the need for Abians to imbibe the culture of keeping our surroundings neat and tidy and desist from engaging in practices that will be counter productive to all and Sundry.
The Roadshow commenced from Umuahia township Stadium through Umuahia gate connecting ShopRite to Okpara Square and terminated at the Government house Umuahia.
The Honourable Commissioner made a very critical observation during the road show which led the train to make a brief stop over at Uzuakoli street close ShopRite and gave a 48 hours ultimatum to the Landlord of an ongoing building along Uzuakoli road Umuahia who is sabotaging the Government good works and purpose to make Abia State a better place to stay, to remove the illegal structures that blocked the Water ways or face the full wrath of the law after the expiration of the date of ultimatum.
The Road work terminated at the Government house Umuahia, where the Deputy Governor of Abia Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Engr Solomon Ogunji, ASEPA Aba General Manager Hon Roland Nwakanma and DG ABSOA Hon. Godwin Adindu demonstrated the global best practices of refuse disposal. The Deputy Governor while addressing the public admonished them to imbibe and inculcate the attitude of keeping our environment clean and desist from attitude that will be hazardous to the society.
