Abia 2023: End of game as Abia students community adopts Chief Okey Ahiwe as their consensus candidate

The Abia Students Community made up of Students union Government in all the tertiary institution across the state have endorsed Chief Okey Ahiwe as their consensus gubernatorial candidate in the state for the 2023 general elections.

Speaking when the students paid a solidarity visit to Chief Okey Ahiwe at his Umuire Eziama Ntigha countryhome in Isiala Ngwa North LGA, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Comrade Chibuzor Ndom said the endorsement is their way of strengthening the cordial relationship existing between the Students community and the state government led by Dr okezie victor Ikpeazu

Comrade Ndom while congratulating Chief Okey Ahiwe on his emergence as the State PDP gubernatorial candidate for the next months governorship election, urged him to focus more on people oriented projects that will have direct impacts on Abians as well as carry students along in his administration.

Contributing, the Student Union Government President, Abia State University Uturu, Comrade Ibeneme Chidera and the NANS Stakeholders Secretary, Comrade Chidozie Okeahialam while describing Chief Okey Ahiwe as the students choicest governorship candidate, disclosed that his humility, loyalty, accessibility and accommodating spirit are some of the traits that distinguished him from other candidates.

Reacting to the endorsement, the People’s Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate in the state, Chief Okey Ahiwe while appreciating the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Comrade Chibuzor Ndom and Abia Students for pitching their tenth with him, noted that he is humbled by their show of love, support and solidarity to him and promised not to disappoint them.

Contributing, the Director General, Abia Central Campaign Council, Chief Chinedum Elechi, the PDP candidate for Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency, Chief Collins Iheonunekwu and a former commissioner for Agriculture in the state, Chief Uzo Azubuike charged the students to remain firm in their faith in the PDP and ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards to enable them vote massively for the PDP.

In a vote of thanks, the President, National Association of Abia State Students, Comrade Bethel Agbara thanked the State government for making the welfare of Abia Students their topmost priority and promised that they will reciprocate the kind gestures with their votes.

The event which featured the handover of adoption letter of Chief Ahiwe to him by the students, a minute silence in honour of Late Prof. Uche Ikonne attracted the presence of major stakeholders in the education sector.
