The BOT member of maize Association of Nigeria and current program manager of Abia ADP, Hon chief Amanze Israel Izybest has directed maize groups in Abia state to immediately commence distribution of Agro inputs provided by central banks to benefiting farmers without further delay.
Chief Amanze Israel while briefing newsmen in Umuahia said that CBN sponsored suppliers have already delivered the necessary inputs for the Abia maize farmers through Maize Association of Nigeria (MAAN)and Maize Growers and Processor’s Association of Nigeria (MAGPAM)
He made it clear that nineteen thousand six hundred bags of fertilizers improved
maize seeds, pre-emergence and post- emergence herbicides, insecticides, organic
fertilizers and spraying machines are all ready for distribution while revealing that the
CBN has given directive for the commencement of the distribution within the next two
The ADP Programme Manager called on the leadership of the maize Association
of Nigeria and the Maize Growers and Processors Association of Nigeria, Abia State
chapters to swing into action to ensure their members receive the inputs and advised
farmers who have not regularized their accounts to do so within two days in order to
receive the inputs.
Chief Amanze further stated that seven thousand and sixty farmers will
participate in this year’s CBN Anchor Borrowers Programme explaining that the State
Currently has facilities to enable the two maize association in the state succeed in the
anchor Borrowers programmer.
He also advised maize Farmers not be afraid of the late planting as maize is a three season crop and can be planted throughout the year.
