The PDP Governorship candidate in Abia State Professor Uche Ikonne has commended the people of Umunneato Ngwa, comprising Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South and Osisioma Ngwa LGAs for being steadfast in their support and efforts towards clinching victory in next year’s guber election, with a promise not to disappoint them.
Professor Ikonne stated this when he met with the leaders and stakeholders from Umunneato Ngwa at his Agburuike Nsulu country home.
He also thanked the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu,PhD, for laying a solid foundation for a smooth take-off as his successor. He charged the leaders to adopt possible measures that will guarantee victory for the party and expressed optimism that the PDP Will come out in flying colours, especially with the calibre of leaders in the party from Umunneato Ngwa who attended the meeting.
In their separate remarks, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Okey Ahiwe, a former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Uzo Azubuike, the Isiala Ngwa North LGA party Chairman, Elder Sam Esindu and his Isiala Ngwa South counterpart, Sir Edwin Ihejirika, the Former Speaker, Abia House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chikwendu Kalu, the State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Chief Obinna Nwachukwu, the State Focal person on Social Investment Programme, Mr. Chinenye Nwaogu, Dr. Nwabeke, Former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor, Dr. John Nwangborogwu, as well as Lady Gloria Agomuo, expressed confidence on the competence and character of Prof Ikonne, and called on all sons and daughters of Ngwa land to jettison every form of primordial sentiments and considerations and close ranks for the party’s victory in next year’s general elections.
Earlier in their goodwill message, the head of service, Sir. Onyi Wamah and a renowned surgeon, Dr. Goddy Achilihu, described the choice of Prof Ikonne as the best thing that can happen to Abians and appealed to all, to work for his victory.
The highpoint of the deliberation was the formal adoption of Prof Uche Ikonne as the sole Governorship candidate for the people of Umunneato Ngwa, following a motion that was moved by Rt. Hon Chikwendu Kalu, seconded by Hon Young Onyeike and unanimously adopted by the entire Leaders present. Also, a vote of confidence was passed on the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Ph.D for his kind gesture to the people of Umunneato.
The DG, Uche Ndi Abia campaign organization, Rt. Hon Chinedum Elechi, led other members of the campaign organisation to the event.
